Circus Xtreme adds a new dimension to circus performances

BMX riders add highflying excitement to circus

Sometimes, Kenny Short looks around him and wonders how he got to this point.

“You’re trying to figure out ‘how did I get here,’ ” he said. “It’s amazing, too, how there’s a camel right by you, and then elephants, and people from all over the world who are performing.”
Mr. Short, 30, is one of seven BMX riders who will be in Toledo when the circus again comes to town. The extreme bicycle performance is new to the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus XTREME, which opens at the Huntington Center on Thursday.
